Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year!

The start of a new school year always brings excitement, anticipation, and joy. Over the summer months, it is incredible to see how much our students have grown—both in their learning and as individuals. This year, we are thrilled to welcome our newest UPK and kindergarten students, along with the new families and students joining our CE community for the very first time.

September is a season of fresh starts: a time to make new friends, strengthen existing friendships, and begin new learning journeys together. As we enter the 2026–2027 school year, we remain committed to our mission of providing a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where diversity, interdependence, and self-discovery are valued and nurtured.

This year, our shared theme is Awe, Attention, and Appreciation. We will encourage one another to slow down, notice the meaningful moments in each day, and appreciate the people, places, questions, and discoveries that make learning so special. Whether we are observing the changing seasons, listening closely to a classmate’s idea, celebrating a small accomplishment, or marveling at a new understanding, we hope to create a school year filled with curiosity, connection, and gratitude.

Each morning, our students and staff begin the day with a morning meeting—greeting one another, engaging in a shared activity, reflecting together, and reviewing the day ahead through a morning message. This daily practice supports our first goal: promoting the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of every member of our school community. Throughout the year, physical education, recess, and outdoor learning experiences will continue to provide students with a healthy balance that supports whole-child development.

Academically, we will continue our focused work in mathematics and literacy, inspiring a love of learning while helping every student grow in these essential skills. Students will collaborate in meaningful learning experiences across math, literacy, science, STEAM, and social studies. We will encourage our learners to view the world from multiple perspectives, building empathy, compassion, and deeper understanding. In Spanish class, students learn not only the language, but also about the many cultures represented throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

As a school, we will continue to strengthen transparent and collaborative partnerships with our families and the broader community. We look forward to connecting through open house events, PTA-sponsored activities, concerts, parent-teacher conferences, our school play, field trips, literacy celebrations, birthdays, and our much-loved Field Day.

As I look ahead to the coming year, I hope we will focus our attention on the moments that inspire awe and invite appreciation. May we appreciate our students for their unique strengths, curiosity, creativity, and kindness; appreciate one another for the care and support we offer; and appreciate the many opportunities we have to learn side by side. This will be a year rich with opportunities to grow, work in partnership, and celebrate the many successes we achieve together.

Most of all, I am filled with gratitude: gratitude for our teachers, who dedicate themselves each day to our students’ success; for our parents and families, who partner with us in meaningful ways; for our PTA, whose generosity and hard work make so many special events possible; and for our students, who inspire us every day. Here’s to a year of learning, growing, noticing, and thriving together in 2026–2027. Welcome back, CE community. You truly make this an extraordinary place to learn and belong.
