We Salute Our Veterans: Wall of Honor 2025

On November 10, the Jr./Sr. High School hosted the ninth annual Wall of Honor Induction Ceremony, which included the induction of nine alumni and one faculty member, bringing the total number of honorees to 185. 

The Wall of Honor serves as a permanent tribute to alumni and community members who have served, or who are currently serving, in the United States military. It stands year-round as a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and commitment demonstrated by these individuals. It also allows the district to thank these veterans while inspiring current students to see them as role models. This year’s inductees include: 

  William J. Cox, Class of 1979 – Navy 
  Bill Demchuk, Class of 1968 – Army 
  Charles Robert Gremler, Class of 1960 – Navy 
  William Michael Gremler, Class of 1953 – Navy 
  Daniel Guyton, Class of 1975 – Air Force 
  Christopher Imbriano, Class of 2019 – Air Force 
  David P. Schultz, Faculty 1973–2007 – Army 
  Kyle Sidor, Class of 2004 – Space Force 
  Martin B. Sidor, Class of 1939 – Army 
  William T. Topping, Class of 1976 – Air Force 

The ceremony included opening performances by the NJROTC Color Guard and the Select Chorus, elevating the dedication of this meaningful event. The Wall of Honor is a community effort, with contributions from Mattituck Jr./Sr. High School staff and students. Special thanks also go to the Sheryll family, East End Sporting Goods, the Mattituck–Southold–Greenport NJROTC unit, and the Southold Town PBA for their ongoing support.  

In addition to the ceremony, the school is expanding its Veterans Day activities through A Heart for Our Heroes. Students wrote reflections and letters honoring special veterans in their lives and planted American flags in a heart-shaped outline on the lawn outside the library. New inductees and their families were invited to participate, connecting the Wall of Honor to the wider school community.  As Principal Patrick K. Burke reflected during the ceremony, the Wall of Honor is “living history, connecting past, present, and future,” representing parents, grandparents, staff, alumni, and community members whose service continues to inspire. 

The district encourages all community members to visit the Wall of Honor year-round and thank those who have served. For families unable to attend, private visits can be arranged through the principal’s office. Thank you to all veterans for your bravery and selfless service. Your contributions and sacrifices will always be remembered.
