The Jr.-Sr. High School winter sports season has come to an end. In total, 196 varsity and 94 junior high students competed in their sports.

The Tuckers finished up the season with the boys basketball team winning the Suffolk County Championship, and the varsity girls basketball team qualifying to compete in the Suffolk County Championship. Six wrestlers were designated All-County, and three wrestlers qualified to compete in the New York State Championship Tournament. Additionally, two winter track athletes gave it their best at the NYS Qualifying Championship.

Six varsity teams qualified as New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete teams: boys basketball, boys indoor track and field, boys wrestling, competitive cheerleading, girls basketball and girls indoor track and field. To qualify as a scholar-athlete team, 75% of the team’s average GPA for the season must be equal or greater than 90%.

Varsity cheerleaders Sarah Amiaga and Jillian Fogarty were also recognized at the Suffolk County Cheerleading Awards Dinner, held at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook. Sarah was designated as All-County Academic, Class C and Jillian was designated as All-Class Athlete, Class C.

The district congratulates all the talented athletes for an outstanding winter season and best wishes for success in their athletic careers.
