    • To develop appreciation for movement and master the fundamental movement patterns.
    • To understand the importance of physical fitness and develop fitness skills through regular exercise.
    • To demonstrate safe behavior, both physical and social while engaging in class activities.

    Throughout the year activities include:

    • Students begin fourth grade with refined motor skills and work toward mastery in loco motor,non-loco motor, and manipulative skills. By sixth grade, mastery in these skills will allow them to develop more complex skills necessary for specific sports participation.
    • With skill acquisition and playing "team sports", students will develop greater interest in doing out of school activities that can lead to a healthier life style. Students will also be aware of their relationship between being active and physical fitness.
    • Students will realize the importance of teamwork; they will demonstrate cooperative skills in both competitive and non-competitive group activities.
    • Students will be responsible for a safe and healthy environment. They will follow all safety rules in use of equipment and physical surroundings. Students will also demonstrate social responsibility and allow fellow students to experiment and participate in all activities and support their classmates in their efforts.
