Welcome back!
The beginning of a new school year brings so much excitement and joy. It is amazing to see how much our students grew up over the summer months. In addition, we have new UPK students and kindergarteners to welcome as well as students and families who are new to our CE community.
September is a time for making new friends, and nurturing our already established friendships. As a school community we will continue to follow our mission statement as we are dedicated to providing a welcoming and safe environment where diversity, interdependence and self-discovery are valued.
All of our students and staff begin the day with a morning meeting as they greet each other, engage in an activity and share and prepare for the day with a morning message. This practice aligns with our first goal of promoting and supporting the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of staff and students. Physical education, recess and outdoor learning experiences will support our students across the year and provide a balance necessary to support whole child development.
Academically, our students will be engaged in our ongoing efforts to improve math and literacy as we support our students’ passion for life and learning. Students will be learning together as they participate in collaborative learning experiences in math, literacy, science, STEAM and social studies. As students learn we encourage a range of perspectives to support deeper understanding, compassion and empathy. In our Spanish classes, our students learn not only Spanish as a language, but about the various cultures represented through the Spanish language.
Our third goal at CE is to create opportunities to foster transparent and collaborative relationships between our school and our community. We will have many opportunities such as our open house events, our PTA sponsored events, concerts, parent-teacher conferences, field trips, celebrations such as literacy celebrations, birthday celebrations and our field day.
This year as I think about our goals, three words come to mind; collaboration, conversations and celebrations. I look forward to opportunities to work together with our families across this school year.
Gratitude is the feeling I am having right now, gratitude for each and every one of you as part of our school community. I appreciate the time and effort that our teachers, parents, community and students have given that makes CE such an amazing place to learn together. Gratitude to our PTA for the many ways they volunteer their time and how they have planned for an incredible year for 2023-2024. Thank you for supporting our school as a learning community where everyone is welcomed and valued.
In gratitude;
