  • Second Grade mathematics is about:

    1. extending understanding of base-ten notation;
    2. building fluency with addition and subtraction;
    3. using standard units of measure; 
    4. describing and analyzing shapes.

      Topics include: 
    • Understanding place value
    • Use place value understanding and properties of operations to add and subtract
    • Measure and estimate lengths in standard units
    • Relate addition and subtraction to length
    • Representing and solving problems involving addition and subtraction
    • Add and subtract fluently within 20

    Science Lab -

    Hands on investigations, experiments and field trips will allow students to discover and reinforce concepts and skills related to the following topics: structure and properties of matter, biodiversity and interdependent relationships in ecosystems – the needs of plants and animals, and processes that shape the Earth.
