Breakfast Menu

Breakfast Now Available in School

January 12, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this note finds you and your family in good health. We never imagined we would be dealing with this pandemic in January of 2021, and so many families would be experiencing such hardship. We are grateful we could provide free lunch to those who needed it since the start of school.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, the district will begin a breakfast program at both the elementary and secondary schools. This program will be free from now until the end of this school year for those families that are in need. There is no charge to the district as the United States Department of Agriculture has extended the child nutrition waivers through June 30, 2021.

The breakfast will be the same for all students each day. At the elementary level, students will inform their teacher that they are requesting breakfast. Pre-registration the day before will be required for elementary students, so enough meals can be prepared. At the secondary level, there will be no need to preorder. Breakfast will typically include a muffin or bagel, or cereal bar, fruit or juice and milk. The menu will change each day and will be posted on the school’s website. Attached, you will find the menu for our first month.

Students at the secondary level can pick up their breakfast between 7:20am and 7:35am in the cafeteria. At the elementary level, pre-ordered breakfasts will be delivered to your child’s classroom to be eaten as soon as he/she arrives.

A breakfast program has never been instituted in Mattituck-Cutchogue before, so we are new to this process. We will try and work out any kinks early in the roll-out phase. As we become more familiar and make the adjustments, we may consider different offerings including a hot breakfast. I want to thank Whitsons, our Food Service provider, for their support of these efforts.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Donna Brower, our Business Official or myself at the number listed below.

Sincerely,

Jill M. Gierasch
